God, the Director of My Life

 - God of Providence, Who Precedes Me

By Dr. Moses Lee

“I will go before you and will level the mountains ; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.” (Isaiah 45:2)

I’ve been following Jesus for 50 years, ministering for 40 years since I began to study theology at the University.

I am not still mature, but one thing surely I know is that my life is taken hold of by the Lord.

As days go by, I can believe the Lord is a movie director. I am just an actor, playing as written in the script, if the Lord says,” My servant, Stand by, Que!”.

As Jesus’ donkey, I just obey him as he says ”Stop”, “Go”, “To the right’, “To the left”, “Sit down”, “Lie down”, “Recover”.

Staying at the LA airport hotel today, I tried to find a church to attend the service, for I had no preaching request.

Accidently I wanted to go to Hollywood Presbyterian Church, of which my foster father Richard Halverson (Former senior pastor of the United States Senates, co-founder and chief director of World Vision) was in charge of. It’s my first time to go there.

I was 7 minutes late for the service, so hurried to an empty seat, where I found Paul Pierson next to me, who was my dean at the Fuller Theological Seminary 35 years ago! I was flabbergasted.

I began to cry and cry.

On January, 1982, I cried before him, saying I missed my girlfriend (my wife Esther) a lot and couldn’t study because I was not able to concentrate on study. Then he said he would offer an entrance certificate to Esther, who was a junior of English department at that time.

It was not precedented in the Seminary history. He said, “It would be better for you to finish M.Div. course rather than to return to Korea. Don’t cry any more. I will give her I-20 Form. Get your girlfriend.” (It took 8 months to take I-20 Form at that time)

Esther, who was in junior year, had an interview with the entrance certificate of Seminary at the US embassy. She was told, “If your boyfriend misses you like that and cannot study, go to him quickly, serving meals, consoling and encouraging him.” And she got the visa. (in those days 1 to 2 of 10 got the visa). It was against common sense.

However, if the movie director of our lives says, “Give her an entrance certificate”, "Issue her a visa”, we have no choice but to obey as an actor(actress) or as a donkey.

“If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.' " (Mark 11:3)

Because we are just a donkey of the Lord, obedience, I think, is the only right way.

I gained strength a lot from Esther’s coming and had a wedding in LA, on Feb. 20, 1982.

I could reach the top of my class thanks to my wife. I got 2 masters’ degrees and a Ph.D., awarded the best paper prize. And I became professor of a University in America.

However, I couldn’t give him my formal expression of gratitude for helping my wife coming to the US for the last 30 years. That’s why the Lord helped me, who had lived as an ungrateful person, to sit beside Paul Pierson to say thank you,

I thought he was dead (he is about 90) and didn’t know he was attending the church. I give praise to the Lord, the movie director and owner of my life, who granted me the delight to attend service right beside him.

The dean said thank you, adding that it was worthwhile to have taught me. He blessed me, raised his hands on me, telling me to send by email the report on my ministry and to see again.

The heavenly delight showered down on me like sunlight.

Glory to the Lord!

Title of Movie - “Fulfill your duty as a man before the anniversary of wife’s death (Dec. 21)” or “Duty” in brief.

Another short film was made today by the Lord.

I give praise and thanks to the Lord Jesus and to God the Father, who stripped away my ingratitude.

Hallelujah.

Thank you for reading my testimony.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year !!!
